Supervision for Counsellors

Please note: From April 2023, I no longer have any availability to take on any new clients. I will update again when I am available.

I am a Person Centred Therapist who is fully qualified and an accredited member with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists which is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

My private practice is based in Whetstone, North London (close to Barnet, Totteridge, Whetstone, Oakleigh Park, Friern Barnet, Finchley, East Finchley and Highgate) and all easily accessible by car and local transport services, buses, tube and overground.

How I can help you?

I provide face to face, short and long term counselling to children, young people and adults on a wide range of issues including mental health issues and emotional difficulties.

As your therapist, I hope to take you forward in your life to make changes that help you be content in yourself and with others. Whatever difficulties you may face, I aim to provide you with empathic understanding and sensitivity so that you can speak about your day to day experiences, feelings and emotions without judgement. I aim to fully understand how you experience your emotions: your anger, your sadness, your fear,  your anxiety and how these feelings impact on your day to day living.  Within this supportive environment, of warmth and containment, we can explore past experiences and relationships and how these impact on the present.

I can support you to think of  your own life map; to  consider the significant milestones and key events that have shaped your life; the highs and the lows and how they have they impacted on your sense of being?  Within therapy it can be beneficial to discover your own potential in directing your own path but also to build on your own capacities to imagine different futures.

It is hoped that you will discover and develop internal resources, while equipping yourself with new skills and strategies that you can put into practice.  I hope to help you be comfortable with yourself in a different way by reviewing new perspectives and finding the courage to make choices that are daunting and challenging.

  • I help support people who have coped with various levels of upset and difficulty in their lives that have negatively affected their wellbeing, from minor troubles to overwhelming experiences  that leave them heartbroken and cause personal and  family distress.  I work to strengthen an individual’s capacities to cope skilfully with many challenges by increasing their resilience and to help them heal from stress and trauma.

  • I support people to understand their triggers for addictive behaviours; I help them understand how alcohol, drugs, food and sex can be used as a form of self-medication to assist with numbing pain, calm and soothe overwhelming feelings.  I help clients to build their own internal support mechanisms, self-regulation strategies and to promote coping and positive development enabling them to get structure into their lives, increasing their self-confidence and regaining control of their day to day lives and implement life goals.

  • I help people feel more confident in their relationships by identifying the hurdles that are holding them back.

  • I help people silence their inner critic by invoking a sense of self-compassion and to revise negative beliefs.

  • I  help people find peace of mind by managing their anxiety or low mood.

  • I support parents/carers by answering their questions about their child’s emotional wellbeing, behaviour or mental health concerns.

  • I support children and young people to help them express feelings and thoughts that trouble them and help them learn strategies to cope with their problems and improve their self-esteem, enabling them to concentrate on learning, their work, their relationships and enjoying life.

  • I  help people improve the communication within their families, their work and social settings  by seeking to understand and explore the communication behind the behaviour; to  acknowledge the whole range of feelings and to build nurturing relationships where they feel seen, heard, valued and understood.

  • I support children, young people and adults in exploring the impact on their individual personality as a consequence of living between multiple cultural influences  which  thwart their psychological well-being and work to develop an inner  resilience  to cope with feelings of sadness, anger, shame, powerlessness and isolation.

Therapy is a shared process and it is my hope that we will work together to build the strength to face any challenges.

We will strive to create something together and it is hoped you can begin to find renewed self-belief, confidence and begin to trust others, allowing yourself to make informed decisions and life choices and begin to live life in a way that is more fulfilling and gratifying.

Please note this is not an emergency or crisis support service.
